Importer Exporter Code (IEC)



A person or the company wishes to start import/ export business of goods and services in India is to obtain an Import Export license (IEC). IEC is a unique ten digit number issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to any bonafide person/ company for carrying out import/export.
In case the import/export is of services or technology, no IEC is required axpect in cases. IEC is only required in case of services which are of such nature which are restricted by the Government of India due to national security reasons.

Time period : 5 to 10 days

Minimum Requirement

  • PAN of the Applicant.
  • Address proof of the applicant.
  • 4 Photograph of Applicant/ Authorised Signatory.
  • List of Directors/ Partners/ Members of Societies.
  • Pan and Address proof of Directors/ Partners/ Members of Societies.
  • Certificate of Incorporation of Company/ LLP/ Society/ Partnership if registered.
  • Copy of MOA & AOA/ LLP agreement/ Partnership Agreement.
  • Copy of Board Resolution/ Authorisation to apply IEC.
  • Landline Telephone Bill in the name of Applicant.
  • Bank Certificate.
  • Current Account Details in the name of applicant.
